"With nature as a primary influence, Jessica’s ceramic work aims to form a direct connection to the earth. She primarily creates marbled works by combining different colored clays on the potter’s wheel. Natural textures and patterns are created when the clays blend together. By throwing simple cylindrical and organic shapes, Jessica showcases the movement and interaction of the contrasting clays. The exteriors of her pieces are left unglazed and meticulously sanded to evoke the feeling of sculpted stone. The interior of the vessels are glazed allowing them to hold liquid."
